IQRA’ Summer Training at Al-Huda

IQRA’ conducted Summer Training at
Al-Huda Weekend School, Schaumburg IL

IQRA’ International Educational Foundation was pleased to be invited by Sr. Akhtar Khan, Principal of Al-Huda Weekend School in Schaumburg, IL, to conduct a summer educational training session for the school’s dedicated teachers.

On Sunday June 12, teachers (from grades pre-k – middle school) gathered to absorb the knowledge and experience of Dr. Tasneema Ghazi – a ph.D in reading and curriculum, long time educator, and executive director at IQRA’ International Educational Foundation.  Sr. Samana Khan, an experienced teacher and educator as well as the Program Coordinator at IQRA’ International Educational Foundation assisted Dr Tasneema Ghazi.

The educator’s session was split  into two parts.  The first part pertained to the following agenda:

• Setting Your Teaching Goals
• Planning Your Curriculum
• Tools Need to Teach

Part two of the session was setup in workshop format in which teachers were split into groups based on the grade level they teach.  Teachers were guided through the basics of understanding curriculum scope and sequence in order to help them plan for the upcoming school year.  In addition, teachers were assisted in developing professional lesson plans and incorporating teaching methods and best practices.

We would like to thank Al-Huda Weekend School for honoring Dr. Tasneema Ghazi with an award for her limitless dedication in working to aid and improve the education system of Islamic communities.  IQRA’ would also like to acknowledge Principal Akhtar’s relentless efforts and drive to continually advance the school’s program of education.

IQRA’ would like to applaud Principal Akhtar and her team for diligently working to develop a “new type of Sunday school” to appeal to today’s students.  We believe a school’s willingness to reach out to experts in the field is the first steps towards equipping our teachers with the tools needed to provide a successful education for our children.
