Family Fun with

IQRA’

.

IQRA’ would like to thank the families, community members, and special guests who joined us for a fun filled weekend during Fourth of July.  We were thrilled to have two very talented individuals; J. Samia Mair and Dawud Wharsnby entertain the community with storytelling and musical poetry. (Click Here to View Pictures)

On the afternoon of July 2, IQRA’ was happy to see twenty children gathered at our BookCenter, located on West Devon Avenue, in Chicago to listen to acclaimed author J. Samia Mair as she delightfully read two of her popular children’s stories, Amira’s Totally Chocolate World, and The Perfect Gift. Children were engaged in Sister Mair’s exciting tales as they read together to discover the lesson behind each story.  Children also had an amusing time representing the stories using fun arts and crafts.  The IQRA’ staff enjoyed working with the kids to help them make chocolate critters and chocolate flowers.  Learn how your kids can make these chocolate crafts by visiting our parent’s link.

On the afternoon of July 5, IQRA’ was pleased to see such a large turnout of the community’s children, teens, and adults who came to IQRA’s head office to meet renowned singer, songwriter, and poet, Dawud Wharnsby.  The room was filled with charm and melodious tunes as Brother Wharnsby sang original poems from his delightful book, For Whom the Troubadour Sings. Brother Wharnsby also graciously shared his personal stories of how he was inspired to write many of his heartwarming poems.  The afternoon was made even more memorable as adults were encouraged to sing out loud and children were invited to play a collection of international instruments as Dawud Wharnsby sang.

We encourage your family to join us for future activities and to stay connected though our website to learn more about upcoming events.  In addition, books mentioned in this article can be purchased at the IQRA’ BookCenter or online at www.iqra.org
